Week 6: The Relief of Being a Creature of Habit

I had a great week! Not just because the scale was nice to me. But I felt on point all week. I fasted when I wanted to, I stayed solidly at my deficit, I kept hydrated, I did my workouts.

Halloween dietI was reading the other blogs last night and this morning, and it struck me. I’m back in my routine. I’d been OUT of routine for so many weeks; it was starting to feel like a kind of uncomfortable and distasteful normal. But this past week my 3-year old has been back at daycare, and I spent a lot of time recouping myself. I needed it.

I also got my period VERY early. Which sent me trolling again into the old forums and reading about hormone flux and weight loss. We are sensitive creatures, aren’t we? When we disrupt old habits for new, our bodies have to adjust. I wasn’t worried about it, but I’ve not had a period be so early since I was in high school and NEVER had normal cycles.

I must admit; I have always disliked the word routine. It made me feel like I was locked into something I couldn’t change, that I didn’t have a say so. When my kids were babies, I was supposed to have a routine so they’d eat and burp and poop and sleep when they were supposed to. But our routines were constantly disrupted by something, and I had to be flexible. So I’ve figured out over the last few years that I really am a creature of habit, but I do things under a looser code. I don’t need my time-frames to be exact. I don’t need everything planned down to the nitty gritty.

My name is Kathy, and I am from the bitterly cold state of MN….where hibernation in the winter time is NOT unusual. I came across Venus Factor, and after listening to a number of success stories and reading Venus Factor  reviews, I decided to take the leap into taking control of my weight.

I am a 39 year old mother to a 13 year old girl and 9 year old boy, who have pretty active schedules, and I work outside of the home. I really thought I was doing okay, until I went to my doctor this past December, and she informed me that I had gained 13 lbs….. I know it doesn’t sound like much, but it was enough to make me look at my lifestyle and WANT to make some changes.

I have tried other ‘diets’ and have had little success. I also try to go to a gym 3-4 times a week where I do a combination of cardio and strength training.

I really believe that my downfall is portion control….not to mention, my love for alcohol!

My goal is that by cutting down my caloric intake, the support of this community and the workouts provided in this program will help me lose the 40-50 pounds I want/ need to lose.

I to wish to shed about 50 lbs. a funny thought came in my head today, I had my grandchildren over 12,8,6 and fed them lunch. I picked up a chip and looked at it and said welcome my 14 calorie chip I will add you to my count. The grand kids laughed and every time they picked up a chip they would echo 14 calories Arabela! it makes the journey fun.

I too have tried many diets, which did work when I stuck to them. But as I’ve gotten older and been more desk bound at work, I’ve found the weight has crept up until I now weigh more than my husband!!!

I joined my first gym (with a friend) in Oct 12 for an eight-week weight loss challenge. It was quite hard going and the timetable was not realistic at all, (we were spending nearly everyday, sometimes twice a day at the gym) and while I felt great, I only lost 7kgs and my work suffered, (luckily I work from home for my husband).

In Mar 13 I managed to seriously tear my right calve muscle in two places during a circuit class, so I was out of action for one month (on crutches) and the physio had me on restricted activities for another two months, until both tears were healed. During that time away I got back into my bad habits, and managed to gain back the 7kgs plus a few extras.

I made four really good friends on the challenge and we each are sharing our weight loss journey. Three of us have joined a gym that is closer to us, while our other friend continues to run and swim. Two have decided to go back to weight watchers, one is just winging it and I was going to go back on Herbalife until I came across the Venus Factor on this weight loss system.

After watching the presentation and reading a few reviews on this website I figured I’d give it a go as it still costs less than a month’s supply of Herbalife products.

Like anything my timing isn’t the best, we’re heading off tomorrow for a couple of days, but I’ll use that time to read up on everything so when we’re back on Sunday we can get into the full swing of it.

I have a 13 year old daughter, who is on the path of becoming overweight, so this program will not only be beneficial for me, but for her too.
